Joseph Hachem
Joseph lives in Australia with his family, although he was born in Lebanon in 1966. For most of his life he was a Chiropractor but he gave up his job in 2002, believed to be on health reasons due to a rare blood disorder, and began playing poker online as well as off. He would occasionally be found playing poker online and at the Crown Casino in Australia. For three years he worked on his poker game before slamming himself onto the world poker circuit. He won the main event in the World Series of Poker tournament three years ago and pocketed a whopping $7.5 million. (Whether he was taxed accordingly on his $7.5 million win is not known, as at the time he was not a professional poker player.) Even after winning the record winnings of $7.5 million, he still only considers himself to be a semi professional poker player. There are many that would disagree, although as Hachem made his first poker fortune calling a pre-flop raise of $400,000 with just a jack of clubs7? and a three of spades 3?, there are also many people who claim he was lucky.
Joseph started life in Lebanon and moved to Australia with his family in 1972. He still lives in Melbourne today. While he remains a huge family man, he still looks for titles to take and winnings to take back to his family in Melbourne. He has 4 children and a wife that he holds close to him at all times.
After winning the 2005 main event, Hachem went on to claim several money finishes and a wsop bracelet. He won the 2006 World Poker Tour at the Bellagio, taking another multi-million dollar prize, making him one of only five to win both a main event and a World Poker Tour title.
